Faq's Pilates

Pilates is a low-impact group class at Jims that focuses on body control, stability and breathing. Controlled movements strengthen your core muscles, improve your posture and increase your flexibility.
It is a gentle but highly effective way to make your body stronger and more flexible — ideal as a counterbalance to strength or endurance sports.

Pilates strengthens your core, improves your posture and increases stability in your back, abdomen and pelvis. You learn to consciously tense your muscles, which often reduces pain (such as lower back pain). At the same time, you build a balanced, muscular body — long, strong and flexible.

At Jims, you can take Pilates and all group classes with a Group membership. This means you pay nothing extra on top of your membership fee.
You can find the group class schedule for your nearest club on the club pages.
Pilates is offered at more than 60 clubs, so there is always a class at a Jims club near you.

Reformer Pilates is performed on a special piece of equipment called a reformer, which works with springs and sliding plates. This allows you to add resistance and adjust the intensity.
At Jims, you can do mat Pilates — without equipment, but just as effective. You train with your own body weight to improve stability, strength and control, under the guidance of experienced coaches.

Wear comfortable, close-fitting sportswear that allows you to move freely. A top or T-shirt with leggings or shorts is ideal.
Sports shoes are mandatory at Jims, so feel free to leave your socks in your bag. Avoid loose-fitting clothing that can hide your posture, so that your movements remain clearly visible to the coach.

Bring a towel to class. Mats are provided at the club, so you don't need to bring your own. And don't forget to bring your good mood — Pilates is the perfect way to bring your body and mind into balance.

Absolutely. Pilates is particularly effective for your lower back and glutes. By focusing on core stability and pelvic control, you strengthen the deep muscles that support your back. Your glutes are also activated in many exercises, which contributes to a strong, stable posture.

At Jims, you can take Pilates classes in an inspiring environment with experienced coaches who help you get more out of your exercise.
Our group classes are accessible, varied and always supervised by enthusiastic instructors who focus on quality of movement and conscious training.
