Why exercise is so important for women
At Jims, we actually celebrate women's day every day.
Every day we see women getting stronger, becoming more confident and pushing boundaries in our clubs. International Women's Day is therefore a great moment to once again reflect on something we experience every day: sport has a huge impact on women's lives.
Not only physically, but also mentally.
Sport is an investment in your health
Regular exercise reduces the risk of numerous health problems and contributes to a longer and healthier life. In fact, research shows that women get additional health benefits from exercise.
Among other things, women who exercise regularly have:
- a lower risk of cardiovascular disease
- better overall health
- more energy in daily life
The great thing is that you don't need extreme exercise schedules to do this. Just a few hours of exercise a week will make a big difference.
Strength training: a real game changer for women
Whereas exercising used to be often associated with cardio, more and more women are discovering the benefits of strength training.
And not without reason. After all, strength training helps to:
- build stronger bones and slow bone loss
- improve muscle strength and stability
- support metabolism
- reduce stress and sleep better
In addition, strength training helps women feel stronger in their bodies, both literally and figuratively.
Working out also does something to your mindset
Exercise not only has an effect on your body, but also on how you feel. Many women find that regular exercise helps to:
- reduce stress
- gain more self-confidence
- feel mentally stronger
- have more energy
The social aspect plays a big role in this. Exercising together motivates, creates connection and just makes it more fun.
Why exercising together is so powerful
At Jims, we see daily how powerful a supportive sports environment can be. This is why we organise Small Group Training sessions such as Strength for Women, among others.
These training sessions focus on women:
- build strength in a safe way
- receive guidance from coaches
- learn techniques and make progress
- motivate each other in a positive atmosphere
For many women, it is also a nice way to lower the threshold to strength training.
Stronger than you think
International Women's Day reminds us how important it is to continue to support women in their health and well-being.
But actually, at Jims, we celebrate it every day.
Every time someone does their first squat, breaks a personal record or just leaves the club with a smile.
Because getting stronger is not just about muscles.
It's about confidence, energy and feeling good in your own body.
And we are happy to help you with that.
Become stronger yourself?
